Happy Teacher's Day

Teachers' Day is a special day in India for the appreciation of teachers, and may include celebrations to honour them for their special contributions in the field of education.

Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, was born on September 5, 1888. This day has been celebrated as Teacher's Day since 1962. Greetings of Teacher’s Day celebrations to the LIS Teachers Community! SRELS and Informatics cordially invite all LIS professionals and the LIS teaching fraternity to join this online Dialogue on 5th September 2020

Greetings of Teacher’s Day celebrations to the LIS Teachers Community!

LIS Education has been a constant subject of debate for long. While LIS education responds to the twin challenges of changing landscapes in the disciplinary domains and the marketplace of LIS practitioners, the practitioners’ community laments the mismatch.  This is not unusual in any professional education system. The debates contribute to strengthening the LIS landscape leading to the learning collective.

To celebrate Teachers’ Day on Saturday, the 5th September, Sarada Ranganathan Endowment for Library Science (SRELS) and the Informatics Group, Bangalore are organizing an online DIALOGUE between LIS teachers and LIS practitioners.  A group of 12 Librarians as discussants will interact with a group of 4 LIS educators as panelists on this virtual forum, moderated by Prof. Shalini Urs, an eminent LIS Teacher.  This 2-hours dialogue (11am-1pm) is structured to enable LIS professionals to raise the issues and challenges they encounter, as questions/comments to the four eminent LIS teachers:
